Farmers Markets and Farm Stands Near Setauket
Farm-fresh food around Setauket is sold through a handful of recurring markets and a scattering of roadside stands, and the schedules for each shift from one year to the next. A market that opened in May may close at the end of October, a winter version may move indoors, and an older web listing may show last year’s hours without saying so. This guide covers the two long-running markets closest to Setauket, explains how to find farm stands, and lays out a short routine for checking dates before making the trip.
Three Village Farmers Market, East Setauket
The Three Village Farmers Market takes place on the grounds of the Three Village Historical Society at 93 North Country Road in East Setauket. According to the society’s market page, the 2026 season runs on Fridays from 3 to 7 p.m. between May 1 and September 18, and from 3 to 6 p.m. between September 25 and October 30. The page does not print a year beside those dates, but the weekdays match 2026, and the page appears alongside the 2026 vendor forms.
That timing has practical consequences for late October. The remaining Fridays on the 2026 calendar are October 23 and October 30, both on the shorter 3 to 6 p.m. schedule. The society’s homepage also links to a Friday Food Truck Fest and a Winter Market, though neither page showed dates when read.
The page says the market has more than 40 farmers and artisans. Listed products include local farm produce, fish and shellfish caught off Long Island’s coasts, artisan bread and cheese, coffee and tea, local honey, nuts and spices, jams and jellies, small-batch distillery products, baked goods, handcrafted goods and prepared foods. Food trucks rotate through, and the society offers a free table to community partners and nonprofits so they can describe their work. Hours do shift between seasons. A June 2023 roundup from TBR News Media listed the same Friday market at 3 to 7 p.m. through September 1 and 2 to 6 p.m. from September 8 to October 27 of that year. A third-party listing on Marketspread showed the 2024 season, described as the market’s tenth, running from May 4 to August 30 and September 6 to October 25, and it printed a Mount Sinai mailing address for the same grounds. Taken together, those examples show why a single old listing should not be treated as a current schedule.

Port Jefferson Farmers Market
Port Jefferson’s market is run by the village and uses Harborfront Park at 101 East Broadway for its outdoor season. A May 9, 2026 report describes the Sunday market as running through November from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with farmers, bakers, distillers and artisans among the vendors, and recounts the opening day on May 3. A 2025 article in the same newspaper put the outdoor session at May 18 through November 23, so the start and end dates move from year to year even though the Sunday pattern holds.
The same market has a cold-weather version. According to a 2025 TBR report, the market runs indoors at the Port Jefferson Village Center in winter and moves onto the park grounds in summer, with more than 20 vendors selling baked goods, produce, honey and skincare, among other items. The 2024 winter schedule gave Sundays from January 7 through April 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Village Center on West Broadway, with vendors placed in the building’s rooms, outdoors or at Harborfront Park, and an indoor move in bad weather. No 2026-27 winter schedule was available on a source that could be verified, so that detail is best checked with the village.
Contact details have appeared in print for both markets. The village market’s phone number was listed as 631-473-4724 in the 2023 roundup, which also described offerings of local produce, honey, bread and baked goods, seafood, international specialties, plants, flower bouquets and live music. The village’s own summer farmers market page is the logical place to look for current dates; it appeared in search results alongside a 2026 vendor application, though the page itself could not be opened for this article.

Finding farm stands
Farm stands are harder to pin down because many are seasonal, unstaffed or limited to a single crop, and few publish a stable schedule. Three public resources help narrow the field.
Suffolk County’s mapping unit maintains a data layer called FarmstandPoint. Its service description says it maps the locations of farm stands, farmers markets, oyster markets, fish markets and flower shops across the county, along with hours, websites and addresses. It does not show a last-updated date, which is a reason to treat any single entry as a starting point only.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County published a 2018 county farm stand list with names, addresses, hours and products, plus a chart of what is typically in season from April through December. The list is eight years old, notes that hours can change without notice, and as reviewed for this article did not include stands in Setauket, East Setauket, Stony Brook, Port Jefferson, Mount Sinai or Miller Place.
The tourism site Discover Long Island adds general context: farm stands and markets across the island sell jams, honey and pies, and many offer pick-your-own peaches, strawberries, apples and pumpkins. It does not name stands near Setauket, so it serves as background rather than as a directory.
Working farms with seasonal events form a fourth category. Benner’s Farm in East Setauket, for example, has held an October harvest festival with pumpkin picking and hayrides, according to a 2019 TBR report, but those are event days with their own tickets and are separate from regular market shopping. A phone call to the farm remains the most direct check.
For nearby pumpkin patches and orchards, the earlier guide to North Shore pumpkin picking and farm stands covers the autumn side of local farms in more detail.
A naming trap: Mount Sinai Greenmarket
Searches for markets in Mount Sinai sometimes turn up the Mount Sinai Greenmarket. That market is operated by GrowNYC in East Harlem, on Madison Avenue between 98th and 99th Streets in Manhattan, and shares only a name with the Suffolk County hamlet. The Manhattan market runs Wednesdays and does not serve the north shore of Long Island.

A short checklist for confirming dates
- Start with the operator’s own page: the Three Village Historical Society for the Friday market, and the Village of Port Jefferson for the Sunday market.
- Look for a year printed next to the dates, and discount any listing that shows a prior year.
- Compare two sources. When a newspaper schedule and an official page agree, the details are more reliable.
- Call or email before a first trip, using the contact details on the official page.
- Check the season end. Both markets run into late autumn, but their final days differ by year.
Weather matters too. The 2024 winter schedule notes that the village market moves to the first and second floors of the Village Center in bad weather.
Payment programs are another detail worth confirming. The 2024 Marketspread listing for the Three Village market named participation in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, but that listing is two seasons old and the program details belong with the market itself.
